Questions about a bespoke commission

What happens at the first consultation?

We discuss your occasion, the shapes you enjoy wearing and the ideas you would like to explore. Bring references and details of your date, venue and dress code, along with any shoes or accessories that may inform the design.

How far in advance should I enquire?

Please contact us as early as you can once your occasion date is known. The schedule depends on the design, fabric sourcing, fittings and the atelier’s availability. We will discuss what is feasible for your date before you commission a piece.

How many fittings will I need?

The number depends on the garment and the adjustments required. A toile fitting helps refine the initial shape and proportions, with further fittings as the garment takes shape and final adjustments to the finish. Your fitting plan is discussed individually.

Can I choose another colour, fabric or design detail?

Yes. Colour, fabric and design adaptations can be explored during your consultation. We will advise on how your choices work with the silhouette and confirm availability, feasibility and pricing.

Can you make a piece in a larger size?

Yes, bespoke pieces are made to individual measurements, and we welcome larger-size enquiries. Share your usual size, bust, waist and hip measurements, occasion date and any fit requirements so we can discuss your commission.

Can I request an alteration to a ready-to-wear garment?

Yes. We are proud to offer length alterations across all our garments, including dresses, tops, skirts, trousers, jackets and coats. Please contact the boutique before ordering with the product name, preferred length and occasion date so our atelier can confirm the timing and cost. For other design changes, we will discuss the options for your chosen style, including a bespoke commission where appropriate.

How is the price agreed?

Pricing is discussed individually, taking account of the design, fabrics and work involved. We will explain the proposed commission and costs before you proceed. An initial enquiry does not commit you to an order.

Can I begin with an online appointment?

Our appointment page offers in-store and Zoom enquiries. Tell us where you are based and your occasion date, so we can discuss the initial conversation and arrangements for any fittings.
